Bike Team: Zack's Angels + Peter
We waited for Matt forever as usual and then took off. It's really cold this morning so we all brought our bike jackets, except for Zack who insisted he had made the smart choice. Peter Wong, a new cyclist from Toronto, couldn't keep up with his bike team so he joined our group. Suddenly it started POURING rain and there was extreme fog- we couldn't see anything at all. We continued biking even though we were completely soaked and freezing cold. We wanted to stop at a coffee shop to warm up - but because of the fog we couldn't see anything past a couple meters in front of us. We may have biked past a hundred coffee shops for all we know.
Around 11:00 we finally stumbled across a small town restaurant. We laid all of our soaked things on a table to dry and ordered hot coffee and a warm breakfast. While our food was cooking we stood in front of a heated dessert stand and huddled together in desperation to warm up. We stayed at this restaurant for a good hour.
We reluctantly put our wet bike gear back on, we heard there was another town 12 miles down the road so we decided to bike to it and stop to warm up again. However, as we started to bike it suddenly cleared up and the sun came out! It became so warm and sunny we quickly dried and warmed up as we biked and we didn't even have to stop again!
Once we reached camp, the cooks heard we had a miserable and cold bike ride, so they treated us to a warm snack of hot dogs. Laura and I were feeling good and energized so we decided to go for a half hour run to kill some time.
Supper was bbq chicken drumsticks, mashed potatoes, salad, corn, and pudding for dessert. I washed my laundry in a sink and hung it on a fence to dry. We had our Peloton Meeting and small groups. We found out that Jake Kuipers was rushed to the hospital because of heart problems, so we prayed for him. I watched the movie Bridesmaids (soo funny) with Zack's Angels then went to bed.
